Do It Yourself Christmas Candy Ideas

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

With Thanksgiving behind us, it’s time to start creating some Christmas candy ideas to go with our jingle bells and mistletoe, don’t you think?  And with so many Christmas candies to choose from, it’s been pretty easy finding neat DIY projects that whole families can join in.

The Dayton Daily News has some cool Christmas candy ideas: namely how to make a small tree entirely out of red and white mints. And I was all excited to try it, thinking maybe I could give them out for the holidays.

And then I saw this on Amazon.com:

Can you say chocolate baby Jesus?

Too much?  Maybe too much.

So there’s got to be a better use of Christmas candies than a chocolate nativity, right?  I mean, who’s NOT going to feel guilty biting into the head of the Virgin Mary? Besides: I’ve neither the time nor the inclination to make a bunch of nativity sets – not when I can just buy candy online and be done with it.

Then I thought, Well – maybe candy Advent calendars.  They’re fun, and you get to open a door for a wee prize every day.

But I really wanted some Christmas candy ideas that I could make with my family, or even the gang here at MetroCandy.com. And this is what I came up with:

  1. Make giant Santa faces using only caramel filled chocolate balls.
  2. Attach some chocolate ornaments to Christmas wreaths made from real or fake garland.
  3. Make some holiday-themed lollipops and use red or green jelly beans for decoration.
  4.  Buy some small stockings and fill them with coal.
  5. Say to heck with it all and start handing out peeps.

I guess I’m not very creative, huh?

So what we really want is to hear what YOUR Christmas candy ideas are.  Will you be handing out Chanukah and Christmas candies this year?  Are you doing any DIY projects for the holidays?  Hit us up in the comments section and let us know what you’ll be doing after you buy some candy online.

Halloween Candy Costumes are Extra Sweet

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

Okay. We’re all sitting around the other day rubbing our hands together in anticipation of the best parts of Halloween: candy and costumes. And while we’re obviously going to go for the candy first, I gotta be honest – it was a close call.  And that’s when we discovered that we could have it all.

Halloween candy costumes.  WHAT?

Heck yeah! Who doesn’t love a delicious Twix bar? And think of how cute it is when you see a little baby dressed up like an M&M. So that got us to thinking about creative Halloween candy costumes that you could make without spending a whole lotta’ dough.

…. Which, of course, leaves you more money to buy candy online, which means you can be the “cool house” this holiday, ensuring more treats than tricks. (See? At our bulk candy warehouse, we’re always looking out for our customers.)

Here’s what we came up with:

  1. Wrap yourself in swirly red crepe paper and go as a Twizzler.
  2. Paint a box white, cut out arm holes and a place for your head, and go as a marshmallow.
  3. Get a yellow sheet, stuff it with newspaper and paint the top yellow. Presto! You’re a candy corn. (Make sure to leave room for your eyes.)
  4. Remember that box from before? Paint it brown and add some purple spots, and suddenly you’re a Chunky bar.

Unless you have a twin. Then do this:

Looking for more ideas? Maybe you could find something fun at the MetroCandy bulk candy warehouse. You could even buy candy online and have a whole theme, you know?

If you have any cool Halloween candy costumes ideas of your own, hit us up in the comments section. We’d love to know how creative you can get.

Father’s Day Candy is a Sweet Idea!

Saturday, June 16th, 2012

So, we were puttering around on the Internet this week looking for good Father’s Day candy ideas, and we ran across this really cool article. Apparently, a marketing company polled 1100 fathers about what kind of brands they’ve heard good things about. And you know what the number one answer was? M&M’s.

And that got us super excited, because it means that the best Father’s Day gifts don’t have to be really expensive – which is good, since the economy is tight.  So then we started thinking of what kinds of Father’s Day candy gifts would be cool. (It’s not like you’re gonna give your dad a bag of M&M’s with a little sticky note that says, “Heard dads like candy. Here you go,” right?

Anyway, we came up with some pretty cool ideas, and we thought we’d share them with you:

  1. Scavenger hunt – ET style. Instead of Reece’s Pieces, you could use M&M’s to lead your dad around the house to his gift. (Which could be a pile of Snickers, since they came in at #3 on the survey.)
  2. Cake.  If your dad has a sweet tooth, you could write “Happy Father’s Day” out in M&M’s on a cake to make his dessert a little more special.
  3. Gym bag. If your father has a gym membership, why not fill up a new gym bag with some individually wrapped bags of M&M’s? (This way he won’t feel guilty about eating them.) You could do the same thing with a bowling ball bag. If you buy candy online in bulk, you can save some serious dough.
  4. Big ole’ pile of candy. (This one might not be really original, but it’s still one of the best father’s Day gifts for candy lovers.)

Anyway, we just figured we’d share some ideas with you in case you’re still looking for a fun gift for Dad for his special day. And you really can’t go wrong with the # 1 choice of fathers everywhere, right?

How are YOU sweetening your Father’s Day this year? :)

Happy Father’s Day, everyone!
