Terrific Leftover Halloween Candy Ideas

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

Before you say anything, let me acknowledges that yes – I have some nerve giving you a list of the best leftover Halloween candy ideas before Halloween even happens.  I’m one step away from being like those stores at the mall that decorate for the holidays before school starts.

But one of the biggest worries we hear from parents is that there are always leftover Halloween goodies. I thought that if I could find some really cool leftover Halloween candy ideas, and get them out to you BEFORE Halloween, maybe you’d feel a little bit better about all the delicious treats in your house.

Mmmmmm…. Crunch bars….

Anyway, over here at Halloween Headquarters we’ve been combing through magazines and the Internet to come up with some cool ideas for your extra Halloween goodies.  Here are our favorites:

  1. Donate them to soldier overseas. Your local community center or house of worship would probably love to have some festive pumpkin pops to spread some cheer to the men and women who serve in uniform.
  2. Repurpose them for Thanksgiving. We learned that there was maize at the first Thanksgiving, so why not some Indian corn for this holiday’s after dinner treat?
  3. Freeze them for later. A lot of our customers who buy candy online during the year freeze some of the extra candy to have later.  And let’s be honest: what’s more delicious than a frozen 3 Musketeers bar?
  4. Teach your kids some cool science. The website Science 2.0 has some really cool science experiments using candy. (Be honest: there’s nothing cooler than watching a marshmallow peep explode in the microwave.)

Tell me that’s not one of the coolest leftover Halloween candy ideas ever.

Anyway, we’re dying to know what kind of neat tricks you have in store for your extra treats this year.  Drop us a line in the comments section to tell us what you plan on doing with your Halloween goodies – aside from eating them, of course.
